Over four days in Bristol, you’ll learn what it takes to act naturally and confidently on camera, even if you’ve only ever had theatre experience, never acted before or haven’t in years. This intensive course is designed to help you deliver grounded, compelling performances for screen. Over four days, you’ll explore the technical and emotional demands of camera work, gain practical experience, and leave with a deeper understanding of what it takes to work truthfully on screen. We’ll guide you through the basics of screen performance, help you understand what’s expected in an on-camera audition, and show you how to create a strong self-tape. Over four days, you’ll work practically with a small group of actors, focusing on screen presence, connection, and spontaneity. We begin by exploring, presence and connection before moving on to scenes, and finding life within the circumstances. No scripts to memorise in advance. No pressure to “perform.” Just a safe space to try things out, ask questions, and build skills. We will explore: • Key differences between stage and screen acting. • Build your ability to stay grounded, responsive, and present under pressure. • Learn how to approach a script and prepare for camera. • Gain confidence in filming a self-tape with practical guidance and feedback. • Understand what casting directors look for in on-camera auditions. This is a practical, actor-led course, with a focus on developing truthful performances in a supportive environment.
